A few months ago I was looking up boots on the Zappos website, and I found a pair I loved. Unfortunately, they were over $300.00. I went on to try to fall in love with something less expensive.
But the next day those boots popped up in an ad while I was on another website that had nothing whatsoever to do with shoes. I was startled. And then it happened again. And then again a couple of days later. Zappos, however, must have smart software that determined I am not the kind of person who can spend over $300.00 on a pair of boots. The ads disappeared.
But starting last week, JJill has begun to stalk me. A picture of the woman on the front of the current catalog keeps popping up everywhere. No matter where I go on-line, there she is in her baby blue sweater. I was looking up the lyrics to Spinal Tap songs, and there was the JJill gal. I was researching a technical question regarding my InDesign software, and there she was again. I looked up a book on Amazon. There she was. I went to Facebook. There she was. I went to YouTube to check out something by the Ramones. There she was.
I am getting a little sick of her. The sweater she is wearing is attractive enough, I guess, but you would think the technology that enables JJill to follow me wherever I go would be advanced enough to know that I would never, not in a million years, buy something in baby blue. I hate baby blue.
I'm starting to hate JJill, too. I keep thinking, "Show a little creativity, folks! Or at least show me a different sweater!"
